Did You Notice?
Here’s a funny thing about dogs:
We’re REALLY good at noticing when they do something wrong. 😂
Jumping on someone?
We notice.
Barking at the window?
Definitely notice.
Stealing a sock?
Oh, we noticed THAT.
But what about when your dog is lying quietly while you’re making dinner?
Or sitting nicely instead of jumping?
Or watching another dog walk by without losing their mind?
Those moments are easy to miss.
Catch them being good.
Good behavior that gets noticed is much more likely to happen again.
So when you catch your dog doing something you like — tell them.
“Good!”
“Yes!”
“Good dog!”
Maybe toss them a treat.
Maybe give them a scratch.
It doesn’t need to turn into a whole training session.
You’re simply letting your dog know:
THAT. Do more of THAT.

Catch your dog doing five things you like without asking them to do them first.
Quietly lying down?
Praise.
Four feet on the floor when someone walks in?
Praise.
Looking at you instead of barking at something?
BIG praise.
You may be surprised how many good choices your dog is already making.
